The verdict is in...we LOVE The Rockin' Tale of Snow White!!!
All of the primary students had a chance to watch the musical on Tuesday and it was fantastic. Congratulations to all of the cast and choir members who did a wonderful job, we are so proud of you! We had our first evening performance tonight and it was absolutely fantastic! There will be another evening performance on Thursday night at 6:30 at Bradford District High School.

Fieldcrest is very excited to be putting on a musical called “The Rockin’ Tale of Snow White.” It is a fun twist on the classic tale of Snow White, featuring some amazing songs and talented acting by some of our junior and intermediate students. The primary choir (which includes many students in our class) will also be performing several songs in the musical! The musical will be performed at Bradford District High School. All primary students will have the opportunity to watch the play during the day on Tuesday, April 24th.

We also encourage families to come to one of the evening performances on Wednesday, April 25th and Thursday, April 26th from 6:30-8:30. Tickets will be $5.00 and all proceeds will go towards supporting the arts at Fieldcrest. Tickets will be on sale at school starting Wednesday, April 18th. If you wish to purchase tickets, please send the money in with your child and indicate which date you would like the tickets for. We hope to see you there!

We made avatars (digital versions of ourselves) today during computer time using a program called Bitstrips. We will be using these avatars to help us create comic strips.

Here is our avatar class photo!

Our classroom code is: winston7

Find your name on the class list and follow the instructions to create your very own avatar! Students are just learning to use this program, so for the time being they will only be able to access and make changes to their avatars and comics at school.

We will be having a quiz on 3-D geometry tomorrow. The learning goals for this unit are:
- name and describe 3-D shapes
- compare and sort 3-D shapes

There are several activities in the "Math Practice" section of the website that can be used for extra practice.

The chart of shape names we have used in class is below:

We are learning to compare and describe 3-D shapes. Have a listen to the VoiceThread below to hear what students are saying!

We have read many books together this year, but one that seems to be a favourite is Dr. Seuss' The Lorax. We have read this book several times and we even created posters to retell the story to Ms. Clarke's kindergartens and a Grade 2 class in Texas! We have talked a lot about the book's important message. Many students have also had the opportunity to see the movie version of the story.

Please share your thoughts about The Lorax. You can talk about the book's message, any connections you have made to other stories or real life, how the book compares to the movie, or anything else you want to share.

I look forward to reading your comments!
Ms. Ferguson :)
